This past weekend was a BLAST! thanks to Richmond & Norfolk for showing us a good time. Fingers crossed, we’ll get back to both towns sooner than later.

Here’s a video taken by a friend (thanks, George!) during our recent set at the Jewish Mother in Norfolk! Sound’s pretty distorted in places, but it looks super cool…

Last night’s set at Speakertree was a blast! We’ve fully transitioned to our new set & are jazzed to be playing out again with greater frequency. Here are the details on our next few weeks, show wise:

04/26, 416 W. Marshall St, Richmond: w/ Houdan The Mystic & Parentheses (HOUSE SHOW!!!)
04/27, Jewish Mother Backstage, Norfolk: w/ Long Division & Over The Ocean
05/04, Speakertree, Lynchburg: w/ Glass Oaks & TBD

The reception to our recent jams has been really warm & accepting - THANK YOU ALL! We’re working on the rest of our next record in the coming weeks…

Also, we are just about out of our recent batch of TLVS t-shirts. Be sure to score one at an upcoming show. Once the red shirts are gone, we’ll get another batch done up (any ideas on a color for the next go around?).

First off, thanks to everyone who made it out for our set this past weekend. It was wonderful to share the stage with Mountains & NOVA’s Ben Mauch. You’d do well for yourself to check out both artists.

We have new 1” buttons in the merch case. Thanks to Brian at Silber for making them happen. The two different designs are based on our heart logo (one is the heart as you see it here, the other is the inverse with a black heart).

So, we’re working out some new material! We debuted it at the Mountains show & are hoping to get it tracked & mixed in time for a cassette that we have available on Record Store Day. More on that as we get closer to 04/20…

We are also working on shows around the mid-Atlantic:

- 04/18: Lynchburg VA, @ Speakertree

- 04/25: Charlottesville VA, @ TBD

- 04/26: Richmond VA, @ TBD

…so, we’re currently working on the follow-up to “Porcelain”. If all goes well, we’ll have everything written around the new year’s break. While finishing the ideas for the new LP, we are also going to track a new cassette that should be out & about by St. Patrick’s Day. 2013 should be pretty rad for us. We’re jazzed to share new work with you all!

“virgineola” is nathan’s brainchild. he writes these melody lines, then does his best to hide them in drones & washes. once ideas are demo’d, he enlists friends & family to perform these pieces live. this composition was tracked at joe’s house last week in preparation for virgineola’s inclusion in the blue ridge summer theatre festival. the “band” is going to perform the score that nathan constructed for the theatre company’s retelling of “macbeth”. tickets for these shows (07/06 - 07/22) can be purchased here.

we’re back in the hill city after a whirlwind weekend in norfolk/virginia beach. friday night’s show with the vicars & electric low was right fantastic! a great evening with friends, both new & old alike. the vicars swept the room into a sense of high worship from dark places with their array of vocal harmonies & post-victorian instrumentation while electric low took the audience back to the future with a mix of infectious rhythms, bombastic percussion & wash after wash of amplified melody. if you get a chance to see either of these acts, we guarantee you won’t be let down…

we spent saturday in the belly of whalehead records, a wonderful little studio space run by members of electric low. we were able to track a brand new song & put together a live three man improv session with our good buddy joey wright on banjo (we tacked on a stellar live take of “matisse” for good measure). fingers crossed we are able to share these sounds with you soon…

on wednesday, 05/23, joe (under the guise of “asentimentalsong”) will be performing as part of a photo show that is opening at speakertree records! this will serve as a “release” show for his most recent effort, a split 10” with brooklyn’s guilty ghosts. also performing will be our good bud andrew weathers!

just wanted to say thanks to all who have been kind enough to take in a performance, or purchase one of our records, or throw us a hi-five or a hug over the past few weeks. i speak for joe when i say that we DEFINITELY feel loved in our home town. your enthusiasm for our sounds energizes us more than we can explain in words here.

in more traditional “band” news, we are heading down to norfolk for a set with electric low & the vicars this friday night. come out to the jewish mother backstage (on granby, directly behind the norva) & space out with us. not sure of the lineup, but i would venture to guess we will start the night off, so be there when it all goes down at 9P. $5 door should make this a relatively inexpensive night for some rock action.

so, our 10”, the split EP with norfolk’s long division, is out & selling well! if you haven’t already scored a copy, you can do from us directly at shows or through the label.

…while in norfolk, we are going to get some studio time in at whalehead. our hope is to lay down the beginnings of a follow-up to 2010’s “porcelain”. this will mark the first time in our days as a duet that we will not be pushing all the record buttons. wish us luck!

joe & i are polishing up our collective chops for some shows in the next few weeks:

03.01.12: @ speakertree records, lynchburg va (we’re playing with matt northrup & the snowy owls - see poster above for details)
03.15.12: @ casa chapala, austin tx (we’re part of the sweet tea pumpkin pie showcase during SXSW week! our showcase also includes the diamond center & the infinite jets)
03.23.12: @ the green bean, greensboro nc (we’re playing with craicdown)
03.24.12: @ rivermont pizza, lynchburg va (we’re playing with the diamond center)

we are also jazzed to have a new song (“eid mar”) on the upcoming HSAL 12” comp. we’ll be on there along with many friends (matt northrup, white laces, the diamond center, the snowy owls, rugby, & the list goes on & on). the label is thinking we should have copies of the 12” in time for MACROCK (04.06). if all goes well, we’ll get accepted to the festival this year so that we can throw them in with our merch!

speaking of records, our split 10” with norfolk’s long division is FINALLY at the press! after some monies lost & some hard feelings, we were finally able to get thing in order for this one! the jackets are being done by harding street in time for a late march / early april release (we’ve given up on trying to announce an actual date with this record). we’re also working out some extra stuff for those who pre-ordered the record.
